Polycom VSX Series

The Polycom VSX equipment is their latest line, which replaces the iPower and the VS/FX models.

Polycom 9800 and 970 iPower Systems

The Polycom iPower systems are Windows-based system with special videoconferencing hardware and software. These systems are no longer being sold by Polycom.

iPower Antivirus Requirement

Polycom iPower 970 systems are required to have antivirus protection software installed for STAGEnet videoconferencing. Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (SAVCE) can be installed on the iPower by following instructions for Windows 2000 computers. iPower PC Anywhere Information

North Dakota K-12 schools that obtain pcAnywhere licenses are able to download and install Symantec pcAnywhere onto their iPower videoconferencing systems. This allows IVN technicans to remotely connect to your machine and perform updates and troubleshoot problems, saving you valuable time.

Updated iPower Address Book

Note: A videoconferencing event should not be in progress when attempting to update the directory.

  1. Log out and log back into the iPower system as Administrator
  2. Download the complete iPower directory (.zip)
  3. Save the tsdir.zip file to the desktop of the iPower
  4. Navigate to the tsdir.zip file on the iPower desktop and unzip the file. The name of the unzipped file will be tsdir.ini. Do not rename this file.
  5. Right click the tsdir.ini file and select cut.
  6. Double click on the “My Computer” icon, then double click the C: drive.
  7. Go to Program Files folder, select the PictureTel folder, then select the VCS folder.
  8. Once at the VCS folder, right click your mouse, then select “paste”.
  9. You will be asked: “Do you want to replace existing file?” Select yes and the directory on the iPower will be updated.

Notes:

  • The sites are listed in alphabetical order by city.
  • Higher education, state government and others will appear in all caps; K-12 schools will appear first letter capitalized and the rest small caps.

Polycom VS4000/FX

The VS4000 and FX series is Polycom’s previous generation of videoconferencing applicances. They are no longer being sold by Polycom.
